Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA) is the Lagos State Government agency responsible for planning, implementing, regulating, and franchising public transport infrastructure and operations. LAMATA is tasked with the responsibility is birthing an intermodal integrated transport system for Lagos. In carrying out the task, we have developed a Strategic Transport Master Plan which detailed transport infrastructure requirements for Lagos till 2032.

She earned B.Sc. Geography and Planning from the Lagos State University (2000) and M.Sc. Geography from the University of Ibadan (2004). She joined LAMATA in April 2008 as Transport Specialist to assist in the implementation of system procedures, and quality standards for the overall improvement of Public Transportation systems in Lagos. She was later designated Bus Operation Analyst. In 2014, she became the Franchise Compliance Supervisor to monitor the activities of the Ikorodu –TBS BRT operator. Before her appointment as acting head of the Bus Service Department, she worked as the Bus Service Specialist and Team lead on the execution of the First and Last Mile bus scheme under the bus reform initiative (BRI) in Lagos State.


She is a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, The Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, Association of American Geographer and Association of Nigerian Geographer. She has written and published academic papers and also attended various training and conferences both at the local and international levels. Outside current employment she is a volunteer research officer with the Gender Research and Development Centre (GERDEC) as well as shares knowledge as a volunteer lecturer in the Department of Geography, University of Lagos.

Agbonzegbe Osa Konyeha holds a B.Sc in Civil Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and an M.Sc in Transport Planning from the Imperial College of Science, Technology, and Medicine in the United Kingdom. He has worked in the transport industry for over 20 years and is currently the Technical Adviser and Head of the Corporate and Investment Planning Department of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).


Mr. Konyeha joined the Nigerian Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF), a UK Department for International Development (DFID) funded assistance to Nigeria, in 2012, as the Embedded Transport Adviser to the Transportation Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, where he provided support in the setup of the Transport Authority Unit and assisted in the execution of transportation projects including the FCT Rail Mass Transit Project.


Presently, in his role as the Technical Adviser and Head of the Corporate and Investment Planning Department of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Mr. Konyeha supervises six units, namely Investment Planning, Transport Planning and Appraisal, Business Development, Safeguards and Environment, Monitoring and Evaluation and Research and Development.
He leads the planning strategy on the future transport needs of Lagos State, coordinates the implementation of transport schemes, develops major scheme initiatives, and secures investment for the provision of transport infrastructure.


Mr. Konyeha is a certified PRINCE2 Project Manager, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport UK (CIHT), and a corporate member of the Chartered Institution of Highway and Transportation, UK (MIHT).

Agbonzegbe Osa Konyeha holds a B.Sc in Civil Engineering from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, and an M.Sc in Transport Planning from the Imperial College of Science, Technology, and Medicine in the United Kingdom. He has worked in the transport industry for over 20 years and is currently the Technical Adviser and Head of the Corporate and Investment Planning Department of the Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA).


Mr. Konyeha joined the Nigerian Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF), a UK Department for International Development (DFID) funded assistance to Nigeria, in 2012, as the Embedded Transport Adviser to the Transportation Secretariat of the Federal Capital Territory Administration, where he provided support in the setup of the Transport Authority Unit and assisted in the execution of transportation projects including the FCT Rail Mass Transit Project.


Presently, in his role as the Technical Adviser and Head of the Corporate and Investment Planning Department of Lagos Metropolitan Area Transport Authority (LAMATA), Mr. Konyeha supervises six units, namely Investment Planning, Transport Planning and Appraisal, Business Development, Safeguards and Environment, Monitoring and Evaluation and Research and Development.
He leads the planning strategy on the future transport needs of Lagos State, coordinates the implementation of transport schemes, develops major scheme initiatives, and secures investment for the provision of transport infrastructure.


Mr. Konyeha is a certified PRINCE2 Project Manager, a Member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport UK (CIHT), and a corporate member of the Chartered Institution of Highway and Transportation, UK (MIHT).

Engr. Abimbola Akinajo is a chartered civil engineer (both in UK and Nigeria) with over thirty years post qualification experience, the last 25 years of which has been in the design and delivery of major transport (both Rail and Road) infrastructure projects.


She began her engineering career at WS Atkins Consulting in the UK as a Graduate Engineer and moved on to be a Project Engineer with Robert West Consulting, a Design Manager with Fluor Daniel Limited and finally a Project Manager with London Underground Limited working on railway infrastructure projects. In the rail industry in the UK, where she spent over 20 years of her professional life, she delivered many high-profile rail infrastructure projects including, major London underground Rail bridge replacement projects, the Connect Project – (implementation of updated communications systems on the entire London Underground system), upgrading the Blackfriars station for the Thames Link project, The East London Line project handover, and London Over ground interface project among others.


In 2009, she became the Managing Director of Nexant Consulting Limited and grew the consulting firm into a reputable quality driven consulting firm with an excellent track record with its clients. She has about three decades experience of working in the railway industry. Engr. Mrs. Akinajo has extensive experience of liaising and coordinating with different stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of projects to program, Budget and specification.

He earned his polytechnic and University Degrees in Nigeria at the Kwara State Polytechnic and University of Ilorin respectively, MBS Health & Safety and MSc Project Management from University College, Dublin, Ireland.


He joined LAMATA in 2014 as a consultant in charge of the establishment of a Railway Safety and Regulatory Unit under the Nigerian Infrastructure Advisory Facility (NIAF). Before joining LAMATA in 2014, he worked with Irish Rail, Dublin, Ireland for over two decades with notable achievements. He developed and managed the Infrastructure Safety Management System (SMS), innovated safety solutions (safety stations) that helped promote safety within the organization, and reduced accidents, hazards, and risks locally within Irish rail. In 2007 he successfully established the first-ever Irish Rail Safety Internal Audit & Investigation Unit (SAIU).

The Lagos Rail Mass Transit (LRMT) is a network of urban rail based systems covering six major corridors and one monorail routes of high commuter traffic demand within and beyond the metropolitan Lagos extending to border areas of Ogun State.
The LRMT Lines planned along priority and high commuter demand corridors within the Lagos metropolis and farther. The six lines and monorail link the major populations and activity centers in the state, as well as taking advantage, where possible, of exisiting transport corridors. The network is fully integrated with planned and existing water transport and BRT routes.

The LRMT Blue Line is a 27 km electric powered rail system running from MARINA (Lagos Island) to Okokomaiko (Marina). It follows the Lagos - Badagry Expressway, a major corridor connecting Lagos to West Africa.
